Services and resources available to Regular, Associate, Academic, Emeritus, Life, and Sustaining members include:

  • www.paralegalmanagement.org - Full access to the IPMA web site which contains many of the items that follow.
  • Membership Directory - A comprehensive, online, fully-searchable membership directory updated weekly.
  • Chapters - There are chapters in many metropolitan areas that that provide local networking opportunities and a meeting venue. Two or more members in an area can form a new Chapter.
  • Mentor Program - Matches a new manager with an experienced manager to provide guidance and assistance.
  • DVD Lending Library - DVDs providing valuable insight on various management topics.
  • Job Bank - The IPMA Job Bank provides a place for posting and finding Paralegal Manager and Paralegal jobs. This service is open to all regardless of membership in the IPMA , has no charge for job seekers, and is complimentary for most who are seeking candidates.
  • IPMA at a Glance - The monthly electronic newsletter of the Association sent to members.
  • IPMATalk - A lively and informative Internet-based discussion group for non-vendor members of the IPMA.
  • Members Talk Live - Quarterly conference calls covering various managerial topics for non-vendor members of the IPMA.
  • In-House (Corporate) Calls - Quarterly conference calls on issues relevant to Paralegal Managers in a corporate setting.
  • List of Core Competencies for Paralegal Managers - Provides list of tasks and basic knowledge competencies necessary for paralegal managers.
  • Vendor Newsletter - Periodic electronic newsletter sent to Sustaining members and key marketing contacts for vendors to the legal market.
  • Position Papers - IPMA papers that provide background on the position of the IPMA on selected topics of interest primarily related to paralegals.
  • Service Provider Directory - An online directory, updated weekly, of companies that are IPMA Sustaining Members. It can be searched in multiples ways and provides complete contact information as well as a link to each provider's web site.

The following services and resources are available to the public at a charge and to all members at no charge or at a discount:

  • Annual Conference & Expo - A three day educational conference and exhibit.  The education program consists of in-depth general sessions and workshops focusing on current topics of interest to paralegal managers.  The exhibit is populated with vendors that provide services and products utilized by paralegal managers or the paralegals, litigation support personnel and other staff that they manage.
  • Paralegal Management - The magazine of the Association electronically published five times each year is available to IPMA members at no charge.  Each issue features management-related articles and articles on current trends and issues in the area of paralegal management as well as vendor advertising.  Also available to non-members on an annual subscription basis.
  • Annual Compensation Survey for Paralegals / Legal Assistants and Managers - A comprehensive survey containing data on compensation practices and benefits for paralegals/legal assistants, paralegal managers and directors, and other legal support positions. Produced in partnership with ALM Legal Intelligence.
  • Job Descriptions - Contains descriptions, lists of primary duties and minimum education considered necessary to perform specified management-related jobs. Available to members as a free download from the members-only section of the IPMA web site and to non-members at a fee.
  • Managers Manuals - A series of five booklets in electronic form covering issues such as setting up a paralegal program; budget preparation in a law firm or corporate environment; recruiting and hiring; tiering for paralegal programs; and training. Available to members as a free download and to non-members at a fee.
  • Skills for New Managers Seminar - An intensive one-day program of management skills training designed for the new manager.
  • Webinars - Virtual seminars, live and recorded, on selected topics of interest to paralegal managers.
