About the IPMA

The International Paralegal Management Association (the IPMA) was established in 1984 as the Legal Assistant Management Association, a not-for-profit, professional association for those who manage paralegal departments or the paralegal function and other non-attorney timekeepers in major law firms, corporate law departments and government, judicial and legal agencies. The IPMA promotes the development, professional standing, and visibility of paralegal management professionals. It is the only educational and networking association specific to those who manage paralegals. The association has a member retention rate high above general association standards with an excellent record of membership growth.

The IPMA Annual Conference serves as the primary educational resource for members and the Expo provides a forum for members to stay informed about the latest products and services available in the legal community.

IPMA Demographics

The IPMA has a membership of some 500 managers who are primarily located in metropolitan areas of the United States and Canada with some members in Europe. IPMA members develop and manage paralegal programs within their organizations. Many are full time paralegal directors, managers or coordinators; some are working managers or case managers, some are human resource professionals who manage paralegals, and others handle a broad range of administrative responsibilities related to paralegals and other legal support personnel. IPMA members are vital to the continued growth and development of the paralegal function within their organizations.
